I have spent more than 25 years in obstetrics and gynaecology, and today my practice is devoted to the surgical treatment of endometriosis and complex benign gynaecological conditions. I am a Consultant Gynaecologist at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, and an accredited endometriosis surgeon at the Stockport Endometriosis Centre — a regional tertiary referral service recognised by the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE). I see private patients at Spire Manchester Hospital.

From cancer surgery to minimally invasive care

My training spans India, the United Kingdom and the United States. I initially trained as a gynaecological oncologist, completing a two-year fellowship and performing predominantly complex open surgery for cancer. That grounding in precise, high-stakes surgery shaped everything that followed. I then transitioned into minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic techniques, completing robotic surgery training at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, and at Stepping Hill Hospital.

Before my present role, I was part of the North-West Endometriosis Centre at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester. This breadth of experience means I can manage complex cases with precision while keeping complications low and recovery as quick as possible.

A multidisciplinary approach

Advanced endometriosis rarely respects boundaries between organs, so it should not be treated in isolation. I lead surgery alongside a specialised team of colorectal and urological surgeons, endometriosis specialist nurses, radiologists and pain-management specialists. For each woman, that means a single, coordinated plan rather than a series of disconnected appointments.

How I work with patients

I believe surgery is only part of good care. The rest is listening. Many of the women I meet have waited years to be believed, and my first job is to take their symptoms seriously, explain what is happening in plain language, and set out the realistic options — medical, surgical, or a combination — so they can decide with confidence.
